Experience Deep Healing For All Your Physical, Mental And Emotional Problems By Matching Your Deepest State With A Homeopathic Remedy That Is Unique To You.

Homeopathy CAN BE a true Healing Journey. I invite you to explore this Healing Journey, where harmony is restored, a higher level of awareness is opened, and without the usual struggles…

Life often brings us many challenges…they may be physical difficulties, pain that persists or recurs regularly, or emotional suffering, too much anger or deep sadness or numbness, or being mentally affected by anxiety, inability to focus, memory troubles, or being just plain tired.

Are there medicines that are safe, effective, and low in cost? Are there medicines that stimulate the body’s natural defenses rather than inhibit or suppress the body’s attempt to become well? Is there a form of treatment that helps to overcome the obvious problem as well as vulnerability that allowed the problem to develop in the first place? The answer to all these questions is yes. Homeopathy, a system developed more than two hundred years ago, has such medicines, which stimulate the body’s natural defenses and act to restore a state of health, rather than to simply fight disease.

SCROLL DOWN to read an absolutely charming story about a young man whose life was transformed by the quiet power of homeopathy. Nearly labeled with the ADD diagnosis, his parents were astounded by their son’s transformation after just one session.

Young Man’s Transformation Through Homeopathy

Everybody commented on his dreamy eyes. Totally beseeching, absolutely mesmerizing. This delightful kid charmed everyone he came in contact with. Wild blond hair, quick mischievous grin, a mind like a steel trap. “If given the chance, this kid’s so smart he would’ve invented the wheel,” his grandparents marveled.

All seemed perfect for this ingenious boy until he hit first grade.

  • “He’s dreamy.”
  • “Doesn’t stay on task.”
  • And the worst evaluation of all…
  • “Distractible.”

It was only a matter of time before the teacher decided this little boy was somehow “infected” with the current childhood epidemic: ADD. After seeking help from traditional sources, I faced an avalanche of brochures, pamphlets, all offering little hope that my son would ever act “normal.” But I was stubborn and felt he was perfect. Nothing wrong whatsoever.

“So he’s a little dreamy,“ my husband said, “A little impetuous.” We found our kid absolutely delightful. Faced with decades, if not a lifetime of powerful psychotropic drugs (some with horrendous side effects), I searched in earnest for an alternative treatment that would allow my son to retain his personality, enhance his life, and allow him to become the student I knew he could be.

Much to my astonished surprise, after just one dose of his remedy, he was able to sit, as attentive as a little soldier, through his entire first grade class. Then he continued to his Cub Scout meeting and watched carefully as an utterly boring speaker droned on and on.

That was ten years ago.

In fact, today this young man routinely earns a slot on the high school dean’s list and last year earned a high school letter in academics. He was just awarded his Boy Scout Eagle Scout Award.

Not bad for a boy who was labeled ADD and unable to concentrate. And just for the record, he’s still as mesmerizing, joyful, and mischievous. Most importantly, homeopathy didn’t medicate him. It didn’t change his personality. It merely aided him in becoming the fine young man he was born to be.

Needless to say, we’re thrilled. Homeopathy has played an integral role in our family’s life by enhancing our dear child’s overall health and quality of life. It supports his continued well being. He’s rarely sick and when he is, the symptoms are barely visible.

What To Expect from Homeopathy

March 3, 2009 by innerhealth

Homeopathy has a different paradigm than conventional medicine. While both attempt to heal a patient of their ailments homeopathy seeks to offer more long-term benefits in the realm of overall health and well being.

A homeopathic remedy works by stimulating your own body’s ability to heal itself. Remedies work gently to move, change and eliminate your symptoms – permanently.

The philosophy of homeopathy tells us that our symptoms are not good or bad, but merely guideposts to let us know there is something to address in our lives. It is by these sign-posts that we can learn how to change and grow to journey through our lives finding more meaning, healing and acceptance of life and all it has to offer.

With that philosophical basis, what exactly happens? Let’s start at the beginning. One goes to a homeopath for the first time to get relief from a symptom or presenting problem. Our body is stating a need to find something to move it forward out of this painful place.

When you go through the consultation, much focus is placed on your symptom and your individual experience of how, what, where, etc. This focus will help the homeopath find the right remedy for you. Looking closely at your symptoms will help you become more aware of how your particular symptom fits in or connects with your own life experience. Often times you find awareness by expressing your case to the homeopath. It is important that you become empowered in your journey towards health and it begins here.

After taking the remedy, it is important to know that a ‘miracle cure’ will not occur (not usually, though in some instances it can seem like one). For treatment of chronic symptoms that have been with you for a long time – it usually takes time for a remedy to ‘act’ in a way that is recognizable to you as healing. The vibration of the remedy needs to ‘meet’ the vibration of YOUR ENERGY to move your symptom. Technically, a challenge ensues to balance your energy vibration and the vibrational energy of the remedy. Much like how a tuning fork is used in music.

In this path towards wellness, a patient can experience a number of things:

  1. you can experience an aggravation of the presenting symptom (i.e. a joint pain might get a bit worse for a short time)
  2. you might find that your changes direction, i.e. a rash moves down your body rather than goes away
  3. you might get a cold
  4. you might get a return of old symptoms that will pass quickly.

All these possibilities are GOOD signs that the remedy is working. There is a law in homeopathic philosophy called ‘Hering’s Law’ that was developed by the father of American homeopathy, Dr. Constantine Hering. Healing, Hering observed, takes place in three directions: from top to bottom, from inside to out and going back through past illnesses.

While initially this may not sound like something you want to go through  just think what one automatically accepts to ‘go through’ when having a conventional medical operation do you expect to hop off the operating table, cured? NO. How much time do doctors recommend taking off for something as simple as an appendectomy? All healing takes time.

In fact, if you as a patient understands and knows what to expect in your homeopathic healing process, you may feel almost as if it is happening ‘outside’ of your inner core. This allows you to be less ‘attached’ to what is going on thus, feeling confident about the healing process. So whatever the reaction, it is nothing to be afraid of in fact, it is something to help you focus more intently on your own healing.

And always remember homeopathy is holistic it treats the whole person body, mind and spirit. So any new symptom that may appear must be told to your homeopath, i.e. if you went for symptoms of depression and develop a cold tell your homeopath. All your symptoms are important and related to your healing journey and remedy prescription.

If you openly allow the process to unfold without interference from other drugs or added new treatments, the results will come. It is very important that you do not take any other medications, begin supplements or start new treatments without discussing it with your homeopath first. If the presenting problem was a chronic lung infection, and a rash occurs after taking the remedy, do NOT treat the rash the remedy is working on the WHOLE person and this may be part of the process Hering’s Law of Homeopathy direction of cure inside to out.

Trusting the healing process will enable your strongest recovery.  The length of time depends on the individual and their unique circumstances.

Another change that can occur after taking a remedy that is above and beyond the healing of your symptoms is a developed sense of inner happiness, balance or a feeling of ease with yourself and your surroundings.

You eventually become more in tune with and aware of your thoughts/feelings/perceptions and your reaction to them becomes more appropriate. Your challenges become less personal and you are more able to handle things that caused you inner turmoil previously.

Sometimes your healing is so subtle it takes a follow up to become aware of the changes that have taken place. Part of the healing process is developing awareness.

We often times focus only on the ‘physical’ and ‘miss’ the emotional and mental healing that takes place. Sometimes when a symptom disappears we forget that we even had it.

The goal in homeopathy is to help you look at your day as an amazing adventure waiting to happen. Awareness and synchronicity begin to take on a new dimension in your life. Events might come that were totally unexpected, or phone calls, opportunities, chance

meetings may occur more readily. Even though life will continue with challenges, your intuition might also increase and life takes on a new flow, with development of flexibility in your attitude. That is good health and the real success of homeopathy.

Homeopathy is Effective

Why is Classical Homeopathy Interesting?

Classical homeopathy utilizes a single homeopathic remedy, aimed at simultaneously curing all of the patient’s symptoms both at the physical, emotional and mental levels.

Classical homeopathy is based on the principles established by its discoverer, Samuel Hahnemann, a German doctor from the 18th century, who after feeling disappointed with the medicine of his own time, devoted his life towards the search of a different medical system which might bring in-depth and long lasting healing of human suffering.

Hahnemann understood that disease is not merely a set of physical or mental symptoms which more or less trouble the patient, but believed instead that illness is the manifestation of a central imbalance of the individual’s vital force. The vital force he defined as the energy that governs the shape and structure, as well as the sustainability and development of all live beings. In a state of harmony, the vital force expresses itself in good health and strength, whereas in a state of imbalance it manifests through weakness and disease. All material, structural or functional alterations of the organism are always manifestations of the vital force that sustains all live beings.

Each individual possesses a unique vital force that expresses itself in a unique form. Each patient manifests unique disease profiles. The imbalance of the vital force manifest through symptoms at the different levels of the being: symptoms at the physical levels, tendencies towards certain diseases, mental obsessions, recurrent dreams, fears, strange feelings and emotions, etc.

If the whole picture is not corrected from the root, symptoms and disease will eventually become chronic conditions and the individual will be reduced to permanently live in poor physical health and lack of inner freedom, preventing him to purse the full development of his life’s potential.

For this reason, treatment of ailments at the local level, such as conventional medicine treats specifically tonsillitis or bronchitis, does not imply a deep cure of the individual. Instead it only targets the elimination of one of the symptoms that is produced by the vital force, ignoring the deeper state of imbalance of the whole system.

The body’s vital force gives rise to symptoms as a mechanism to compensate for the existing imbalance; for instance, in a situation of extreme stress it can bring about a state of influenza that forces the person to remain in bed and rest. Another example is a situation in which a general infection emerges and the organism produces a high fever in order to fight bacteria or viruses that have invaded the body. When the vital force becomes unbalanced, it reacts by creating symptoms that will rebalance the situation, thereby safeguarding the total integrity of the organism.

When the symptom created as a mechanism to preserve the rest of the body is eliminated, an even deeper imbalance develops that eventually manifests through more complicated symptoms: starting at the skin level and spreading further until the vital organs are reached, sometimes even putting an end to the patient’s life.

For example, many times when psoriasis or dermatitis is suppressed in a child, a condition of asthma develops subsequently. Later, when the asthma is also treated suppresively, abnormal patterns of behavior emerge, such as hyperactivity or ADD.

We can say that – the patient is not ill because he suffers from arthritis, but rather that because the patient is ill he has developed arthritis. Eradicating the arthritis does not cure the patient, it only eliminates a specific manifestation of his unbalance.

The situation could be compared to that of a car with engine problems in which the red light of the temperature or oil levels goes on as a means to draw the owner’s attention so that he will solve the real problem.

What would we think if, upon taking it to the garage to have it repaired, the mechanic merely pulled out the red light instead of fixing the oil tank? In fact, the only possible purpose of healing needs to be directed towards reestablishing the equilibrium of the person’s vital force.

Classical Homeopathy looks at the person as a unique integral unity. Accordingly, Classical Homeopathy does not simultaneously utilize various remedies to treat the person’s different symptoms: one remedy for the psoriasis, another one for slow digestions and yet another one for sadness.

Instead, it relies on the administration of a single remedy each time to treat the total underlying imbalance which is the cause of the patient’s different symptoms, the actual bull’s eye of the system and the reason for the individual’s ailment. Once health is restored by such means, not only do the patient’s symptoms disappear, but his general state of wellbeing also becomes strengthened and the development of serious future disease is generally avoided.

Homeopathy: What Is It and Why Should I Try It?

HISTORY

2000 Years Ago:

Hippocrates identifies two types of medicine ‘contraries’ or ’similars’.
‘Contraries’ use the opposite suffering (˜antipathy’ in Greek) to restore wellbeing, for example, a laxative eases constipation. Hippocrates noted ‘contraries’, over time, make the original problem worse, then more medicine is needed. Most people who’ve taken antacids or sleeping pills would agree. Hippocrates favored the use of ’similars’. They already had a long and successful history in traditional, herbal medicine.

200 Years Ago:

A German doctor named Samuel Hahnemann noted quinine protected people against malaria. He took some himself and found that he got all the symptoms of malaria. It cured malaria because it could produce malaria-like symptoms in a healthy person. Hahnemann was thrilled by this œEureka moment and spent his life testing diluted substances on volunteers, carefully recording their effects. This work continues today with well over a thousand substances already tested and new ones being introduced all the time.

Homeopathy has its roots in traditional herbal medicine, but with three major improvements:

1. the original substance is only used in an extremely diluted, safe form .

2. any substance, not only plants, can be used.

3. all substances are tested on human volunteers to see what symptoms they produce.

Fact or Fiction?

Homeopathy is one of the most contentious areas in holistic medicine, with opinion polarized into two camps: those who think it is scientifically impossible for homeopathic medicines to work and those who know from direct experience that they do work even it there isn’t a verifiable means of explaining how, as yet.

Whilst skepticism is healthy, ignoring empirical evidence from hundreds of thousands of people who attribute their return to health to Homeopathy isn’t. After all, the healthiest of minds tend to be open ones!

Homeopathy is a different approach to health care that can improve your health and prevent illness with cost effective remedies made from natural sources. It was developed as a system of medicine by a German physician called Samuel Hahnemann and has been used for more than 200 years.

The word ‘homeopathy’ comes from the Greek and means ‘similar suffering’. This refers to the central philosophy that a substance that can produce symptoms in a healthy person can cure those symptoms in a person who is ill. A tiny dose of a carefully selected substance is given to stimulate the body’s natural healing ability, enabling people to gently return to health.

Symptoms are seen to be the body’s way of communicating to us that all is not well. Homeopaths treat the whole person seeing each patient as a unique individual with a unique personality and unique symptoms, not as a collection of disease labels. Any condition (physical, mental or emotional) from which the body is capable of making a recovery can be treated by homeopathy.

Even if a serious condition is present, homeopathy may be able to promote a feeling of well-being even though it may be unable to cure the total condition. Using safe, non-toxic remedies homeopathic treatment works with your body’s own healing powers to bring health and well being.

About Homeopathic Consultations

i_quote_3

Homeopathic practice is very different from conventional or allopathic medicine. Unlike allopathic methods, the homeopath explores the whole person, and is not disease-based. The homeopath explores the unique thoughts and experiences of each individual to uncover the basic causes and patterns of suffering. Then the homeopath chooses a homeopathic remedy that best fits the individual state of the client. This treatment produces a deep healing, improved harmony and higher levels of awareness.

The goal of homeopathic treatment is to improve health in the most gentle and long lasting way. To assist the client the homeopath must:

  • understand the totality of what the client is experiencing that characterizes the individual’s state;
  • find the homeopathic remedy most similar to that state.

The complexity of the information needed for homeopathic evaluation requires sufficient time to understand the state needing treatment – up to two hours for an initial consultation and a half hour for a follow-up appointment.

For some people the healing journey with the homeopath is a shorter amount of time (2-3 months), and for others a longer period of time (up to a year or more). Ms. Burch schedules weekly, monthly or quarterly visits that are tailored to the specific needs of the client. The length of time homeopathy takes is dependent on the nature and duration of the state and the response to the remedy.

Acute conditions are always included in the initial and follow up fees. She encourages her clients to get in contact as soon as an acute condition arises in order for homeopathy to support the healing process.

The risks in homeopathy are extremely low, as most remedies are highly diluted substances and do not contain any chemical substances (except sugar). There is the remote possibility of short-lived and mildly uncomfortable aggravations of an existing or previous condition after a remedy is given. If you experience what you think is an aggravation, please contact Ms. Burch.

Client Advice

  • One dose of two to three pellets taken one time can be an effective treatment. There is no need to repeat the remedies daily, unless your homeopath prescribes daily repetitions. Do not take another homeopathic remedy, or combination of remedies, without consulting your homeopath.
  • After you begin homeopathic treatment, it is advised to not begin other alternative practices, such as acupunture, herbal medicine and shiatsu, without consulting your homeopath.
  • Homeopathy can treat many health related problems that may arise in your life. Keep your homeopath informed about what is going on, even if you don’t think it is important. You may have come for migraines, but the homeopath is treating the whole body. For example, if you get the flu, be sure to consult your homeopath.

FAQs About Homeopathy

WHAT IS HOMEOPATHY?

Homeopathy is a system of natural medicine that differs from conventional or allopathic medicine in very specific ways. One main difference is that instead of diagnosing, labeling and treating a particular disease or ailment, the homeopath looks at the whole person and takes everything about them into consideration in order to select a remedy (medicine) that matches their symptoms most closely. Also taken into consideration is how the client looks at their individual situation and life in general.

Remedies are made from natural substances (plants, minerals and animal) and are prepared in a way that removes all material substance while releasing the energy of the substance. Only small doses are given to help stimulate the body’s own ability to bring itself back into balance towards healing.

This system was developed by. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician and translator of medical books in the early 19th century. It is based on his synthesis of various principles and scientific understandings of medicine he learned when translating medical texts from as far back as the days of Hippocrates, who is called the Father of Medicine.

Is Homeopathy Different From Other
Alternative Medicine Like Acupuncture And Herbalism?

Yes, although people often get confused and think they are the same. Acupuncture follows the philosophy of Chinese medicine and uses needles on targeted areas of the body to stimulate energy healing. Herbalism uses only plant sources, employing extracts that contain material substances. Homeopathy uses plant, mineral and animal sources and has a special method of preparing remedies that removes all material substance. Hence, homeopathic remedies made from source materials considered poisonous can be safely ingested.

What Does Homeopathy Treat?

Homeopathy treats every kind of condition known to mankind: physical problems, emotional problems, mental problems. It even treats what we could call today “spiritual” problems, where people feel out of sync with their place in the world. Both acute (usually sudden, having a beginning, middle and end) and chronic (deeper, harder to shift long term conditions that have often come slowly over time) can be treated homeopathically.

What Are The Benefits Of Homeopathy?

There are many. Not only do the remedies work to clear the troublesome symptoms but they go back to the root of the problem, so that it is eliminated totally. It does so in a gentle, safe way using natural substances that are taken in small amounts for short periods of time. Along with no side effects as often seen in conventional medicine, homeopathy is also cost effective and non-addictive.

Who Can Use Homeopathy?

Homeopathy can be used by everyone, at every stage of their development: pregnant women, babies, children, men and women and the elderly. In fact, homeopathic treatment can even be used safely on animals. Remember the remedies are made from natural substances, in a strict process that eliminates the initial material substance so that even recognized “poisons” such as Arsenic and Belladonna can be safely used—and with no inherent side effects.

What Does A Visit To A Homeopath Entail?

Usually a first visit will take from one to two full hours. During this consultation, you will be given adequate time and space to speak freely and in detail about your presenting problem(s), including how they affect your life. In addition, you will be asked some questions about other aspects of who you are, i.e. your eating habits, sleeping habits, likes, dislikes, family history, etc. The more information the homeopath is given about you, the easier it will be to match you with the most appropriate remedy. A follow-up consultation takes considerably less time, unless a new symptom arises or more information is required to better match a remedy.

Where Do The Remedies Come From?

Homeopathic remedies are made from taking tiny amounts of natural substances – for example, the leaves or stems or flowers from plants, a feather or sputum or milks of an animal, or from particles of minerals such as iron, salt, gold, and copper. Remedies are made by special homeopathic pharmacies according to the method and standards developed by the founder of homeopathy, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. (The word used for this process is potentization. See “Explanation of terms” for details.)

How Do You Take The Remedies?

The remedies are usually taken in a different way than regular medicines. They can be in either pellet or liquid form depending on the way your homeopath believes is best for you and your individual situation. Instead of just swallowing like with ordinary medicine, homeopathic remedies are either taken by placing the pellet under the tongue to melt or, if liquid, held in the mouth for a short time. This allows for a gentle introduction into your system.

It is only in rare situations that you have to take the remedy for long periods of time. In most cases you only need one or a few doses. That is one of the beauties of homeopathy.

What Can I Expect To Happen After Taking A Remedy?

This, too, is individual. Some patients experience a period of exceptional well-being and optimism. With some, occasionally symptoms appear to get worse for a short time. This is actually a good sign that the remedy is taking effect. With others, sometimes a cold, a rash or some form of discharge will appear. This, too, is a good sign that your body is cleaning. It could also happen that symptoms you have had in the past might come back, usually for a short period. This will pass and must not be treated as it is an important part of the healing process.

In the event that no change is noticed, a change in selection of remedy or in potency might be necessary. Sometimes, changes are so subtle that it isn’t until a follow-up visit that the client realizes that one has taken place. We, as individuals, seemingly have lost our ability and skills in awareness, keeping track of our own bodies and understanding our own healing processes. Homeopathy aims to empower clients so that they can become more active in their healing journey

If Homeopathic Remedies Can Be Bought In A Health Food Store, Why Go To A Homeopath?

While you may think you can figure out what remedy you need, homeopathy is actually more complicated. Over the counter remedies may be of some help for acute and minor problems, but if you have a chronic or serious condition you definitely need to see a trained homeopath for proper treatment. Sometimes finding the appropriate over the counter remedy is confusing. It also can help to know the differences among remedies that seem to refer to similar states. Health food stores are limited in the number and potency (strength) of remedies they sell Your particular situation might require something that you cannot pinpoint accurately and/or easily find over the counter.

What If I Am On Prescribed Medication Already?

You can still be treated homeopathically. The remedies will not interfere. Any medications prescribed by your physician, however, should be dealt with only by your physician. It is hoped that your dependence on those medications will lessen as homeopathic treatment brings you more into balance. Any changes in your prescribed medication should only be made by your physician.

How Long Does Treatment Take?

There are many. Not only do the remedies work to clear the troublesome symptoms but they go back to the root of the problem, so that it is eliminated totally. It does so in a gentle, safe way using natural substances that are taken in small amounts for short periods of time. Along with no side effects as often seen in conventional medicine, homeopathy is also cost effective and non-addictive.

Is Homeopathy Expensive?

No, particularly in comparison to the cost of conventional medicine. Unfortunately, in many countries alternative medicine is not covered by health insurance. Homeopathic remedies cost less than a few cents per dose and are not taken as often or for as long as prescribed drugs. The only major cost is the practitioner’s services. The first visit will be the most expensive since one to two hours is devoted to the initial interview. Follow-up visits are shorter, generally infrequent, and much less costly.

The first consultation can be anywhere from $200-$500 depending on the geographical area, expertise and costs of the homeopath. Most homeopaths will work with a client to develop an appropriate fee schedule.

How Often Do I Have To See A Homeopath?

After the initial consultation, normally you would see a homeopath for a follow-up visit about 4-6 weeks after the first visit and starting to take your remedy. Sometimes more follow ups may be needed if a remedy change is called for and/or the condition or a new condition requires additional treatment. After the initial two visits, one would continue to see their homeopath as needed, depending on their unique situation (remember everyone is an individual). Visits might be monthly, once every six months, annually and/or whenever something new comes up. Because homeopathy works subtly, sometimes a client will not realize their symptom is gone until they have a follow up. It is interesting how easily a pain or problem is forgotten once it is resolved.

How Are Homeopaths Trained?

That too is a question that has a variety of answers. Much depends on the background, education and skill of the homeopath. Before schools were created, there were apprenticeships with mentors and/or study groups of interested, like-minded persons. These still exist but now there are schools of varying length, in-depth seminars, graduate level courses, and more. Some conventionally trained medical practitioners can take post-graduate courses while others may initially opt for a full training at a school which could take four to five years to complete.

It is important that you ask your homeopath about their experience and credentials. Taking a weekend course or attending a few seminars is not good enough, even for a trained physician, and should be questioned. Trained homeopaths usually have letters after their name indicating their education and/or professional certification. Be sure to ask what these letters stand for. The most recognized certification process in the United States is from the Council of Homeopathic Certification. The letters, CCH, would indicate that the homeopath understands the methodology, philosophy and essential knowledge required to practice as a professional. As yet, however, certification is not mandatory so not every homeopath has this additional credential.

Because of the nature of homeopathy, new methods, remedies, insights and understandings come up each year, and it is important for homeopaths to continue their education to keep up with new developments. Always ask your homeopath how they were trained and how they are keeping up with new information.

Where Can I Find A Homeopathic Practitioner?

Because the rules and regulations for practicing homeopathy differ in each state, it is sometimes difficult to find a homeopath. If word of mouth does not work, you can click here to explore further. For more information contact nancy@innerhealth.us.  No matter where you locate a practitioner, always make sure you find out what their training has been.

Are There Different Types Of Practitioners Of Homeopathy?

There are various ways that different practitioners practice homeopathy. There are even many who call themselves homeopaths when they might only use homeopathic remedies occasionally and in conjunction with other treatments. This may cause confusion to many patients. (Inner Health practitioners are Classical homeopaths and use a specific method that they have found to have a deeper and longer-lasting result.) NOTE: all symptoms at every stage are only the tip of the iceberg and it is through our symptoms that we need to treat the whole state.

a. Classical – using only one homeopathic remedy at a time to treat the whole person in a dynamic way, following the philosophy and tenets of the founder of homeopathy, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Inner Health highly advises seeking a Classical Homeopath for homeopathic treatment. Click here to find a homeopath in your area.

b. Naturopaths – using homeopathic remedies along with other herbs and tonics to stimulate the body into its own healing ability.

c. Complex – using a combination of homeopathic remedies made into one substance.

Is Homeopathy Used Outside Of The USA?

Homeopathy is known world-wide. While growing in popularity in the USA, homeopathy actually is more well known and utilized in other countries. In Europe, for example, almost all countries have practicing homeopaths. In fact, in the United Kingdom there are actually homeopathic hospitals and even the Royal Family is known to favor homeopathic treatment? In India, homeopathy is probably used as much as conventional medicine. Homeopathy is part of the national health system in the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, South Africa, India, among others. You can also find homeopaths in Latin and South America as well as in Australia, New Zealand and former Soviet Union countries. It is not as well-known in Africa and China but is beginning to be used there as well.

Most bookshops and health food stores have books relating to homeopathy. Some of the more common ones for beginners are:

Steven Cummings and Dana Ullman, Everybody’s Guide to Homeopathic Medicine. This book covers homeopathic history, principles, and practical methodology along with home care measures and appropriate homeopathic medicines for a wide variety of acute conditions.

Timothy R. Dooley, N.D., M.D., Homeopathy Beyond Flat Earth Medicine. This book is an excellent introduction to homeopathy – what it is, how it differs, when to use it, what to expect, how to get results.

Miranda Castro, The Complete Homeopathy Handbook. A brief introduction to the history and philosophy of homeopathy. The main part of the book focuses on treating common acute conditions. It is very readable for the beginner. (Miranda also has an excellent guide for Pregnancy and Childbirth as well). Similar to Everybody’s Guide to Homeopathic Medicine (see above).

Dana Ullman, Homeopathic Medicine for the 21st Century. Very thorough and exact. Well worth reading. If you want one book to have by you – this might be the one.

George Vithoulkas, Homeopathy: Medicine of the New Man. A good introduction to the homeopathic philosophy.

Richard Moskowitz, MD, Homeopathic Medicine for Pregnancy And Childbirth.
